We are a bee-keeping family. Since 1983, we have been working professionally in the bee-keeping sector. Over all these years, thanks to our hard work and a love of bees, we have managed to build strong relationships with our customers, founded on trust. We take a responsible approach to the entire process of making honey from the hive to consumers, meaning we can ensure the high quality and authenticity of our honey.

A tradition we’re handing down from generation to generation

The story of Oros Machaira honey dates back to 1983. Michalis Filippou began bee-keeping along with his brother-in-law, Kostas Himonas, with five hives given to him by Kostas’ father. For around 30 years they worked hard with these simple values in mind: love for nature, bees and their produce.

Having raised their children, they decided that it would be better for the entire family for the partners to go their separate ways. So today Michalis Filippou’s sons run the company, which makes a comprehensive range of bee products, packaging and marketing them under the “Oros Machaira” brand name.

2020 marked a new chapter for us, with the opening of our modern apiary near the picturesque village of Melini, in the Larnaca district. Our facilities were designed with a focus on excellent functionality, hygiene, and respect for the environment, aiming to offer a complete visitor experience.

In our indoor spaces you will find:

Two modern rooms specially designed for processing and bottling our honey.
A viewing room to educate visitors on our history and the magical world of bees.
A welcoming reception and tasting area to try out our products.

Moreover, the experience extends to our outdoor spaces, where you can enjoy:

A specially designed area for conducting workshops and educational activities.
Lush gardens featuring apiary plants, providing food for our bees and a beautiful environment for visitors.
Themed around bees and their products, you will find interactive educational games for all ages.
The unique opportunity to visit the hives (with appropriate protection), experiencing the world of the beehive up close.
A special area dedicated to apitherapy for those seeking out for the beneficial properties of the hive environment.

Our apiary is open to the public, offering guided tours and the ability to host events, such as christenings receptions and birthday parties, in a unique natural and experiential setting.

Our commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility governs the operation of all these spaces and activities, demonstrated through the implementation of the international standard ISO 14001: Environmental Management System. Recognizing the paramount importance of food safety, we are also in the process of preparing for ISO 22000: Food Safety Management System certification, further strengthening consumer confidence in our products.
