An excursion in nature combined with creative activities is an excellent idea, to release all the stress of our daily lives. Our company with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism organizes experiential workshops at our apiary, on weekends and holidays. We would be very happy to meet you, to exchange views and spend a creative day! The workshops are ideal for children and adults and the aim is to give every family the opportunity to spend creative moments together! Check out below the workshops’ program and the activities each one includes.
Workshop 1:
Beeswax Candle Workshop
What would be the best activity for you and your children, just before Easter? The creation of your own candles, of course! Your own beeswax candles to be exact! In this workshop you will enjoy learning about the bees and make your own candles made from beeswax for Easter. You will have the opportunity to wrap the wick with the base of the honeycomb (from wax). Next, you will be given various Easter decorations to decorate your own candle as you wish and you take it with you for free. In addition, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a tour of our apiary and learn how to bottle honey. Moreover, you will see the “bee nest”, you will learn where and how the bee lives, and what is the difference between a bee, a queen and a drone. Finally, you will have the opportunity to play a game of knowledge related to bees and honey.
Workshop 2:
Creating food wrapping paper with beeswax
Follow the concept of circular economy into your daily routine in a clever, economical and environmentally friendly way! In this workshop we will learn how we can easily reduce the plastic wrap we use for our food (for the kids’ school sandwiches, for any leftover food, for cold cuts, fruit, etc.) and we will replace it with wrapping paper which has the beeswax as its main “ingredient”. The only things we will need are beeswax and an old cotton cloth (e.g. an old blouse). We will learn all the rest at the lab!
An experiential activity created for you and your children with an educational character and lots of creativity!
Apart from the part of the wrapping paper creation, you will have the opportunity to get to know the bee community by observing our precious friends up close and at the same time you will learn the role of each bee in the beehive, as well as their differences. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to take a tour of our apiary and learn how to bottle honey, play an educational game related to bees and honey and see how honey is bottled live. Finally, you will get to try the types of honey we offer. And all of these for FREE!
Workshop 3:
Wax creations
Many people like candles, as they create a nice atmosphere and many times they set the mood. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to choose your own candle mold (we will have a wide range of choice), to put in the mixture. The mixture will be made with the help of our professional guide and poured into the molds carefully. Then, after the candle is dry, you will have the opportunity to decorate it with dried flowers and pack it in a paper bag.
Moreover, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a tour at our apiary and learn how to bottle honey. At the same time you will see the “bee nest”, learn where and how the bees live, and what is the difference between a bee, a queen and a drone. You will have the opportunity to play a game of knowledge related to bees and honey and finally you will enjoy a bee therapy if you like; an alternative treatment that helps us overcome many health problems, excellent for children, athletes and the elderly.
