Pollen

Pollen (pollen grains) is essentially the sperm of flowers, which is transferred (mainly by bees) to the pistil of the flowers in order for fertilisation to take place. Pollen is collected by bees because it is very important for their diet, particularly in the early stages of their development. People have collected and eaten it since antiquity.

Pollen is made up mainly of proteins, sugars, fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and flavonoids. Its exact composition varies with the flowers it is gathered from.

Our pollen comes from the wild flora of Machairas, which is why its colour ranges from yellow and orange through to deep brown depending on the season it is gathered.

Directions for use:

We suggest 1 teaspoon per day for the first week. After that, you can increase the amount to 1 tablespoon per day. We suggest consuming the pollen every morning before breakfast. You can also consume the pollen by dissolving it in water or juice.

Duration of use:

Pollen can be eaten daily as part of a balanced diet. If you are allergic to pollen or to other bee products, consult your doctor first.

Product expiry date

Pollen keeps unaltered in the freezer for up to one year after its production date. The correct way to store pollen is in the freezer at -18°C, from where it is consumed directly as it does not crystallise. Pollen can also be kept in the refrigerator for two months after its production date.
