Oat bars with honey
Ingredients
- 220 g dates, pitted
- 84 g honey Oros Machaira
- 64 g peanut butter or almond butter
- 112 g unsalted almonds, roasted, lightly chopped
- 135 g oat flakes
- chocolate chips, dried fruit, nuts (optional)
Method
We put the dates into the blender bowl and blend for about 1 minute, until they are pureed.
On a baking tray we spread out the oat flakes and bake at 175 C for 10–15 minutes, until they are lightly golden.
In a large bowl we put the oats, the almonds, the dates and the additional ingredients of our choice (chocolate chips, dried fruit, nuts, banana chips), stir and set aside.
In a small saucepan we heat the honey and the peanut butter over low heat and stir.
We pour the honey-peanut butter mixture into the oat mixture and stir well so that the ingredients combine.
We line a 20×20 cm baking tray with non-stick baking paper and empty the mixture into it.
With the back of a spoon we press the mixture so that the ingredients combine and smooth it out, so that it is uniform everywhere.
We cover the tray with plastic wrap and put it in the freezer for 15–20 minutes for the mixture to set.
We remove the bars from the tray and cut them into 10 equal rectangular pieces.
